· Upon restart, after the installation of the AS Client, you may see the "New Hardware found" window listing an unknown device. If so, click Next three times and then click the Finish button.
· You may need to update the firmware on your card. You can do this after you have installed the drivers correctly. The directions to update the firmware are on the last page of these instructions.
INSTALLING THE CARD
1. Turn on your laptop and make sure it is finished loading all programs.
2. Put the wireless CD into your CD-ROM drive.
3. Insert the wireless card into your PCMCIA slot.
4. The new hardware wizard should open and say it found Lucent technologies WaveLan/IEEE. Click Next. Choose "Specify the location…." Click Next.

6. If the following screen appears, click OK.
The window pictured below may also appear several times during the installation. To dismiss this window, click the OK button.
7. Once the following window appears, click Finish.

8. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click yes. If not, restart the computer yourself. When your computer finishes booting, continue to the next step.
9. Once the card is installed, double click My Computer, double click your CD-ROM drive, double click WinME, and then double click Cl_Mgr.
10. Run the file labeled "setup".
11. Proceed with the installation using the default settings. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click yes.
12. After the installation is complete, click Start, then Settings, then finally Control Panel.
13. Inside the Control Panel you should see the following icon. Double click it.
14. The screen below should appear. Click on the Edit button.
15. The wireless profile wizard should open. In the profile name blank, type "UT." Click Next. In the network name blank, type "nomad." Make sure you enter the word nomad in lower case as shown in the picture below. Click Next.

16. Click Next two times.
17. As shown in the screen shot below, check the box labeled “Renew IP address when selecting this profile.” Click Finish.
18. Close the control panel.
19. Restart your computer.
After you restart your computer, you may see green or orange bars in the system tray. This usually means that wireless connectivity is available in your location. These bars must be present for a wireless connection to be established.
Updating the Firmware
Note: To update firmware, your card must be in your computer and you must have your power cord plugged in.
q Turn on your laptop and make sure it is finished loading all programs.
q Put the wireless CD into your CD Rom drive.
q Double click "my computer". Double click your CD-ROM drive. Double click the folder for your operating system. Double click firmware. Double click WSU10752.exe.
q Click the update button. Read the message that follows. Click OK.
REGISTRATION
After you have your wireless card installed and configured, you will need to register your wireless card to gain access to the wireless network. To register, you simply need to open up your web browser (IE or Netscape) and you will automatically be taken to the network registration site, http://netreg.utk.edu/. Just follow the instructions and within a few minutes you should be on the wireless network.
